Bookstore Frenzy

I believe in retail therapy but only for books. I care not much about clothes outside my necessity and my kind mother has always nagged me endlessly for that. Sorry, but really, why waste money on cotton when you can use it buying novels from your favourite author?

I am not making any sense. I know. I'm a nerd. Hence the blog's title! Get it? No? Alright, moving on...

However, I did buy a few clothes today out of my mother's insistence. "Your clothes are old, go buy some new ones," said she, "we are not poor." So, like a dutiful daughter, I dragged my little sister along to Midvalley and The Gardens. I was looking for some formal wear - white shirts, blazers, black pants etc etc. However, it can be quite difficult to shop since I am a large-sized person. After strolling for an hour, I went to ISetan and discovered that they have a plus-size department there. Nice! So I tried a blouse, liked it and bought it straight away. It the first ladies' shirt I bought! *Cry in joy*

After the promise to my mother is fulfilled - one blouse and two shirts: enough - I dashed to the magnificent bookstore, Borders, which is situated nearby. My sense of rationality and moderation seem to be taking the day off as I impulsively grabbed three books and went straight to the counter for payment, all the while thinking, with the books in my hands, that "This is the meaning of life!" *Cry in joy, again*

My favourite writers of all time - for now - are two Asian writers whose works are translated into the English language for the general masses. It is quite an irony considering how helplessly I am rendered addicted to their translated works. Imagine if I can read in their original languages, whose beauty of language is much superior, to my belief.

If I can marry this man's writing, I will without a moment of hesitation. Mr Pamuk, I thank you for being a part of my life.

The ever-so-great Haruki Murakami, my favourite writer of all time. I consider him to be a better storyteller than Orhan Pamuk. I am also in the dangerous mission of collecting and reading all of his works, which amounts to almost 20 books. *Faints*

I like Mr Eugenides very much though he has only written three novels in the span of 19 years. But each work is outstanding, especially Middlesex (2002). Therefore, once I saw his recent novel on the bookstore shelf last month, I knew I had to get one.
